Actual MyPCBackup User Review

Ok, so I purchased a year subscription to MyPCBackup back in July 2012, and so far all I can say is that it’s been great! But let’s backtrack a second, and figure out exactly what a backup program is, and what it can do for you.

A program such as MyPCBackup will allow you to backup files, that are located on your computer, and then upload them to an internet server and have them stored on the internet so if your computer crashes, you can recover your files, simply by downloading them back to your computer after it is fixed.

For a long time I had been looking for a decent program to backup my files but never found one I really liked and I tried several. In the past I felt that a backup program was unnecessary, and for the most part I was right, as internet connections were not even close up to par with what a backup program demanded.

Fast forward a few years, and now you can get a 7 meg connection for a very decent price, which is more then enough to backup files, even gigabytes worth of files, such as I am doing. (The screenshot to the right was taken from my installation of the software before I started writing this review) That said, if you are planning to backup a lot of files a fast internet connection is a must, unless you want to spend days, or even weeks completing your first backup.

Creating a free MyPCBackup account is very painless and after filling in the simple signup form you will be asked to download the software. Here is a few simple facts about the software.

MyPCBackup Software

  • Only 9mb download file
  • 27mb memory footprint when running on my Windows 7 PC
  • You can backup up to a 5gb file (using one of the paid options)
  • You can schedule your backups to run whenever you want (You can choose daily, hourly, or even pick days from a calendar to start the backup)
  • You can backup your files free for 14 days!

Once you have the software installed, it will run a quick scan of your pc and configure itself to your pc’s setup. When that is complete, you can now start selecting what you want backed up, whether it be files, folders, or even entire hardrives.

Congratulations! Your information is now backed up and you can now rest assured your information is safe and if the unthinkable happens, and your computer crashes and information is lost, you can simply log into your MyPCBackup account from anywhere and re-download your files!
